Programs > Converter Instructions
Once you have the CPK2AVI Converter or ACPK2AVI Coverter uncompressed somewhere on your hard drive remember the location and then open up an MS-DOS Prompt (by going Start, Programs, MS-DOS Prompt usually). Now you need to change the directory to the location of your converter program. To do this you will need to type 'cd' then leave a space and specify the path to the folder that the program's in. For example, to change the directory to My Documents you will need to type:
C:\WINDOWS> cd c:\mydocu~1
You'll need to take note that all spaces must be left out in folder names and if the name of the folder is longer than eight characters then the first six are shown, usually followed by ~1 (sometimes the 1 is replaced by another number depending on how many folders there are starting with the same six characters).
Next type in the name of the program, leave a space, type in the directory path to the *.cpk file, leave another space and then type the name of what you want the *.avi file to be called. Below is an example of the *.cpk file being Evt127_2.cpk from the third disc of Panzer Dragoon Saga being converted into a file called Evt127_2.avi by the ACPK2AVI Converter:
C:\My Documents> ACPK2AVI d:\Evt127_2.cpk Evt127_2.avi
If you've done everything correctly the conversion process will begin. Once it has finished the DOS command line will appear again. All you have to do is type 'exit', like this:
C:\My Documents> exit
The *.avi file that you created will be located in the same directory as the converter program, in this case the My Documents folder. The *.avi files are quite large but at least this way Saturn movies can be viewed with Winamp and other, more standard, media players.
Please note, these instructions were written with Microsoft Windows 98 in mind and may not be able to be followed exactly if you're using another operating system. Windows XP, for example, has the Command Prompt located under Accessories in the Start menu and allows you to type in a full file name, rather than restricting you to just eight characters.
