Game Information > Panzer Dragoon II Zwei
Publisher: SEGA
Developer: Team Andromeda
System: Sega Saturn
Genre: Rail Shooter
Year of Release: 1996
Order in Series: Second Game
Panzer Dragoon II Zwei is the sequel (or storyline-wise, the prequel) to Panzer Dragoon, and it was released roughly a year after that first game. Its gameplay follows firmly in the footsteps of its predecessor, once again utilising the Rail Shooter genre to immerse the player in a vivid world of surreal aerial combat. This time around though, several new features are added to the gameplay formula that give Panzer Dragoon II Zwei considerably greater depth, including alternate routes through the levels, a dragon that evolves into different forms depending on your success, a visually impressive new "berserk" attack and a wealth of unlockable features.

Storyline Info
Order in Storyline: First Story
Time of Game Events: Imperial Year 71
Main Character's Name: Jean Jacque Lundi
The plot of Panzer Dragoon II Zwei takes us back to twenty years before the first Panzer Dragoon game took place; its main character is a young man named Lundi, who has lived all his life in a small village out in the endless wastelands of the world. Lundi has raised a dragon - which he named Lagi - from birth, protecting it and hiding it away from the superstitious people of his village, who would have put it to death had they discovered its existence. When Lundi's village is obliterated by an immense battleship from the Ancient Age though, he finds that he and Lagi are the only survivors; riding atop Lagi's back, Lundi sets out in search of vengeance, taking his place in history as the first dragon rider.

NTSC Version
Notes:
As with the packaging for the NTSC version of Panzer Dragoon, the packaging for this game doesn't have the real Panzer Dragoon logo on it, but it also doesn't have a real Panzer Dragoon image on it either. It's unclear why Sega of America put a completely unrelated render of a green dragon (!) on the front of their box, but rest assured this is neither a hoax nor a pirate copy.
Strangely enough, the NTSC game disc also has the region code for Japan on it, so it can be played on a Japanese Saturn as standard.

PAL Version
Notes:
If you look closely, you'll see that the "village" on the front of the box is actually two stills from the game's opening sequence, distorted to give the impression of perspective.

Panzer Dragoon I & II Box Set (NTSC-J)
Notes:
This is simply the first two Panzer Dragoon games packaged in a nice cardboard box; they still have their individual cases with instructions and spine cards, and seem indistinguishable from the original Japanese releases.
